An End of Winter Update
Feb. 13, 2023
Barbecue is religion to most folks; wherever you’re from is the only real barbecue to you. We tend to think you’re right. We’re true fans of all ‘cue, but when we opened our first Brooklyn shop in 2012, we set out to create our own individual style of barbecue by melding the classic tradition of wood fire cooking with the many ethnic flavors we experienced while walking the streets of such a vibrant borough.
At the centerpiece of our Bklyn kitchen were two-ton barbecue pits made in Texas. These workhorses were wood-fired by locally sourced sugar maple and red oak, which provides our distinct smoke flavor. We felt most at home pairing traditional bbq with market-driven specials. You would find double-smoked brisket burnt ends alongside sweet and savory char siu pork shoulder; pickled garlic scapes next to honey-glazed cornbread; a selection of local craft beers on draft and cans; and a curated offering of American whiskeys and delicious craft cocktails.
We had a good ten-year run in Brooklyn, winning many awards, making countless friends, and thrived helping to create a new definition of barbecue in NYC. Then, in 2022 the universe attracted us to Longmeadow, and into the bones of one of the longest running institutions in this town’s history – Rinaldi’s.
Moving into the old Rinaldi’s space is an incredible honor, and we are thrilled at just how much space there is! We plan to expand our original barbecue menu to include steaks, chops, salads, and a more extensive bar snack menu. What you'll see developing here is twelve years in the making, and we are very excited to share it with you!
We are currently in the process of designing the restaurant. These things take time, and while we wish we could be open today, it's likely going to take us most of the year to get up and running. We plan to post updates of our progress when we have something noteworthy to share.
We are deep into design and construction planning for our upcoming Longmeadow, MA location. Please check below to see our latest updates!

Permanently Closed.
It was with a bittersweet heart that we closed our Brooklyn location to end the 2021 year. We enjoyed serving our barbecue here for a decade. A decade! Since signing our lease back in 2012, we have been so touched by this wonderfully welcoming nyc community. And as we look toward 2022, ten years later having served countless slabs of ribs and chili macs, we thank you for your kindness and generosity. From day one, you have made us feel right at home smoking our barbecue in one of Brooklyn's most spirited neighborhoods. Here is the letter Bill posted on our doors at the end of December:
Read a Note From BillTen years in Bklyn, with locations in Gowanus, Industry City, Smorgasburg, The Rockaways, Downtown Brooklyn, South Street Seaport, and even that time we served 'cue out of a shipping container on the west side and Philip Seymour Hoffman got super pissed that we were sold out of ribs. Here's to looking back...
The time has come! Construction is nearing completion and we are ready to build our barbecue family here in Longmeadow. We’d love to have you join our team! Please use the form below to apply. Feel free to send in your resume even if you don't see the position you're looking for listed.
Send us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
